150,000 Ukrainians use the Starlink satellite internet to overcome the effects of war
SpaceX now has about 150,000 daily users of its Starlink satellite internet service in Ukraine, about 10 weeks after it became operational in the country, as Ukraine's deputy prime minister, Mikhailo Fedorov, tweeted that Elon Musk's Starlink internet was providing critical support to the country's infrastructure. and restore devastated lands.
According to the British newspaper "Daily Mail", the prime minister added, "Ukraine will remain in contact no matter what." Starlink, which allows people to access satellite internet in the past month, became the most downloaded app in Ukraine, and as of March 15, it had been downloaded nearly 100,000 times.
The CEO of SpaceX handed over the stations that provide the service after Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February. Musk said Starlink was activated in Ukraine at the end of February, and that SpaceX was sending more terminals into the country, in response to a tweet by a Ukrainian government official who asked Musk to supply the beleaguered country with Starlink terminals.
Fedorov told The Washington Post in late March that his country uses thousands of Starlink terminals, and SpaceX has not disclosed exactly how many Starlink users and terminals are currently active in Ukraine. Musk handed over satellite internet terminals at the request of Fedorov, amid fears that the Russian invasion could disrupt internet services in Ukraine.
